Welcome back to Term 4
Hopefully you have all had a wonderful holiday with your families. We have a very busy term ahead including exciting activities such as athletics and prizegiving.
Our Landscape Learning topic is Antarctica. Writing will focus on newspaper reports and persuasive writing and then poetry.
Mathematics

Statistics weeks 1-5

Statistical Investigations:
  • Collect and display category and number data in stem and leaf graphs.
  • Construct simple tally charts.
  • Classify events from experiences such as possible ,certain and impossible.
  • Interpret information and results in context.

Mathematical Processes

Interpreting Statistical reports

Number weeks 6-10

  • Looking back at number.
  • Exploring, estimation and computation.
  • Addition, multiplication and division.
  • Using a calculator to investigate answers to problems.
  • Maintenance of times tables up to ten times tables.
  • Solving problems.

We have once again been invited to take part in the free swimming programme at Lloyd Elsmore Pool. This will take place on a Wednesday for seven weeks. It will begin in Week 2. Please see the timetable on the back of the notice for the times that your class will participate. Students will need to bring togs, towel, plastic bag and goggles for the free swimming sessions. Please bring back signed forms on the bottom of the swimming notice.
Here is a brief summary of the swimming timetable.
Mrs Kaur’s class (5B) will leave at 10am for a lesson at 10.30am
Mrs Dale’s c;lass (5D) will leave at 12.30pm for a lesson at 1pm.
Mrs Langford’s class (5E) leaves at 1pm for a lesson at 1.30pm.
Mrs Samuel’s/Klokie’s class leaves at 1.30pm for a lesson at 2pm
As part of the Music programme the students will be continuing to play the recorder.
Athletics: Tuesday 12th November: In order to build up our fitness for this, weather permitting, we will be running daily. The students may wear running shoes to train in, but must have uniform shoes to wear for the rest of the day. If your child is unable to run due to health reasons he or she must bring a note in order to be excused from running. Physical Education sessions will focus on skills for athletics.

Week 2: Swimming Starts 23rd October. Term 4 assessments begin.
Week 3: Labour Day Monday 28th October. Saturday 2 November: Gala Day
Week 4; Year 4 assembly Friday 8th November.
Week 5: Tuesday 9,10,11yr Athletics. Thursday 7.8 yr Athletics.
Bible finishes on Thursday
Week 6 Interschool Athletics
Week 8: Swimming finishes
Week 10 SeniorSchool Prize Giving 11am Monday. School finishes 12 noon Tuesday.

HELP PLEASE!!! Road Patrol: We need help to cover our road patrol duties on Prince Regent Drive: Friday 8.15am to 8.45am and Monday or Tuesday afternoon from 2.50pm until 3.15pm.
